Information Technology and Systems Management

By definition, information technology covers all that you need to work, such as providing computer hardware to serve your purpose and inevitable solving hardware and software issues. Let’s say you think you need a new computer to replace your current one - it’s running slow, and is more than a couple of years old. We can decide for you whether a new computer or good backup and update would serve your purpose. Need multiple computers to print to a new network printer? No problem. Computers need maintenance regardless of how you use them, and the simple but extremely important issues of selecting the right anti virus software to a complete reformat, hardware upgrade, or replacement can seem like a daunting task to any level of user - especially when dealing with multiple invariably aging systems. We eagerly handle the entire spectrum this involves from the small tasks to setting up a server farm and deploying multiple workstations.

Information Architecture

It is no easy task to define what exactly an information architect is, but to say the very least, a great deal of information architecture goes into any piece of software, website, database, or other tool which will ultimately power your data before most other aspects of that tool are decided. It all starts with design. Not the kind of design that goes into a logo or brochure, it’s the kind of design that goes into structured systems to build a solid foundation, structure and a final definition of how information will be handled and manipulated by the system before any interface is even considered (though interfaces and general usability are often important factors for any system in early development, at this stage, they are only parameters leading to a bigger picture). Useful technology starts with Information Architecture before development begins. This makes for a much more efficient project workflow as a new system’s usage can be defined from the inside, and designed on the outside almost simultaneously, closing the loop in the middle when the development of the system begins.

Software Design and Development

Just as a building architect can design and create a blueprint of a building to be built, the information architect lays out the blueprints of software to be developed and describes how it will work. It is the job of the structural engineer and individual contractors to bring a building to reality. The metaphor extends well to software development. Once a software project is defined based on specified requirements, we create it around those specifications with exacting accuracy to provide you a stable working environment.

Website Design and Development

Perhaps one of the single most important requirements of any modern organization is a website. This website should be a hassle-free low pressure face for your business tirelessly selling, providing information, and helping customers 24 hours a day. A website used for selling, can be compared to a pretty large piece of software which must work all the time and without error, as such the development is similar, but involves the use of many disciplines including information technology for creating and maintaining a stable operating environment for the website, information architecture to create a blueprint of how the website should work, programming, graphic design and graphical interface design, and database administration. All of which we handle in stride to provide you with a reliable website no matter how large or small.

Database Administration

Most solutions will at some point require a back end database to store information such as company and customer records. Database administration is a general term describing a combination of information architecture and an extensive knowledge of deployment, usage, and maintenance of database server packages, including shortcomings and strengths each different server type brings to the table. Databases require maintenance depending on usage, typically all that is required is occasional optimization on a well designed database structure. We take database design very seriously as most often entire systems are actually built around the database and an inneficient structure means an inneficient system which can and more than likely will eventually become a major problem in maintaining. We strive to design database structures to allow for growth without having to take the whole system down to perform future updates and additions.

Photo Lab Services

If you are a photographer regardless of whether professional or by hobby, or just have pictures that need touching up, there may be cases where you don’t have the time or resources to perform the often tedious tasks of correcting images and finding the aesthetic midpoints for each and every image - that is, color/contrast, cropping, correcting imperfections such as shadows, scratches, reflections and lens glare - to name a few. We can also add effects to your images, ones that add value to the appearance such as that dreamy haze effect or a cutout look for example. Whatever your need, we can bring out the life in your photos - we can even remove life from your pictures, such as eliminating unwanted guests in pictures of a private moment. Being computer jockeys ourselves as well as a creative bunch with an eye for proper aesthetics, this service comes naturally, it is after all involving a digital medium. We also offer photo scanning, and can work with third party printers.

Managed Web Hosting

Many firms claim to run their own servers which they use to provide their own hosting. Without trying to cause offense, I will state that sometimes, this does not necessarily create the best hosting environment when the same technology specialist who works with clients is also maintaining and running the servers. This creates a philosophy of spreading the employees time and attention thin and ultimately, the customer loses, especially when your website or worse, mission critical multiple site accounting system fails because of a bad hard drive. We have chosen to take a different route. We purchase rack space and managed service from a very reliable datacenter whose employees sole purpose is to monitor, maintain and upgrade servers as needed. A tier 1 datacenter with connections to at least 3 internet nodes provided from separate companies to ensure maximum uptime. This allows us to lower our operating overhead in this area exponentially, and we clearly pass the savings on to you.

Domain registration

We register domain names and manage the attached nameservers for you to relieve the headache of having to remember information that will seldom but ultimately be needed and invariably forgotten. We notify you of expirations and provide a layer of privacy and protection to your domain registration.
